SOFIA BOYS’ CHOIR SUMMER CAMP 2025′

Sofia Boys’ Choir Summer Camp 2025 – the First Major Summer Musical Adventure of the Sofia Boys’ Choir

Between 31 August and 7 September 2025, the Sofia Boys’ Choir, affiliated with the Chitalishte Tsar Boris III – 1928, inaugurated a new tradition with the launch of the first Sofia Boys’ Choir Summer Camp. The creative summer camp was held in the seaside resort of Kranevo, where the choristers spent an inspiring week filled with rehearsals, music-making, seaside adventures, and enriching cultural encounters.

Venue of the Camp

The camp took place in Kranevo, a coastal resort offering excellent conditions for rehearsals, sports, games, and social activities. Several special events were hosted at prominent nearby cultural landmarks, including the Palace of Balchik, the Aladzha Monastery Holy Trinity, and the Varna Archaeological Museum.

Highlights of the Camp

Both concert formations began their focused preparation for the 2025/2026 concert season. A total of 60 rehearsals were held, dedicated to the development of vocal technique, ensemble musicianship, and the study of new repertoire. In addition, the youth ensemble presented several chamber performances during visits to nearby cultural destinations.

The choir performed Church Slavonic chant in the chapel of the Aladzha Monastery—an experience that proved to be among the most memorable moments of the camp. The youth ensemble greeted audiences at the Varna Archaeological Museum with „Shto mi e milo i drago“ (How Dear and Precious It Is to Me) by Petko Staynov. The Sofia Boys’ Choir also closed the official ceremony of the International Festival “Young Talents” during Creative Holiday Kranevo 2025.

Beyond music-making, the boys took part in relay games, beach sports, and group activities designed to strengthen teamwork and cohesion within the ensemble. Themed entertainment and social events fostered a warm atmosphere of friendship and shared experience.

Recognitions and Awards

During the camp, Certificates of Merit were presented to choristers for their contribution to the Boys’ Formation of the Sofia Boys’ Choir by the conductor Alexander Mitev at the Palace in Balchik. Certificates of Participation were also awarded to all participants and staff members of the choir at an official ceremony held at the Varna Archaeological Museum.

The camp evolved into a vibrant forum of music, friendship, and inspiration, laying the foundation for a new annual tradition in the artistic life of the Sofia Boys’ Choir. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants for the dedication, discipline, and inspiration they brought to the days of Sofia Boys’ Choir Summer Camp 2025.
