Participation of the Choir in the Premiere Performance of “The Queen of Spades” by P. I. Tchaikovsky

On 31 January 2020, at 7:00 p.m., the Sofia Boys’ Choir will take part in the premiere concert performance of the opera “The Queen of Spades” by P. I. Tchaikovsky, presented at the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

The concert performance of “The Queen of Spades” – one of the landmark operas by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – will be presented by the artists of the Sofia Opera and Ballet on 31 January in the theatre hall. Guest conductor will be Konstantin Trinks.

In the leading role of Hermann will appear the opera soloist Martin Iliev, while the role of Liza will be performed by soprano Alexandra Lubchansky. Considered one of his finest works, Tchaikovsky composed the music of “The Queen of Spades” in only 44 days. Its first stage performance took place on 31 December 1891 in St. Petersburg. In Bulgaria, the opera was first staged in 1926, with Russian musician Yuri Pomerantsev – then working in Sofia – conducting the premiere.

The cast also includes soloists Angel Antonov, Biser Georgiev, Daniel Ostretsov, Nikolay Voinov, Slavi Manov, Ivanka Ninova, Tsveta Sarambelieva, Bayasgalan Dashnyam, Stanislava Momekova, together with the orchestra and choir of the Sofia Opera.

You are most welcome!
