On 25 December 2013, at 6:00 p.m., the 25th Anniversary Traditional Christmas Concert of the Sofia Boys’ Choir at the Community Cultural Centre “Tsar Boris III – 1928” took place at the Bulgaria Concert Hall, under the title Christmas with Friends.
The event was organized by the Sofia Philharmonic and Quarto Quartet, an ensemble affiliated with the Sofia Philharmonic. Under the artistic leadership of violinist Ivan Penchev, the young musicians of Quarto Quartet captivate audiences with their innovative ideas and refined musicianship.
This year’s Christmas concert was especially festive, marking a remarkable milestone: for 25 consecutive years, the Sofia Boys’ Choir and Adriana Blagoeva, Assoc. Prof. PhD, have delighted audiences every 25 December with their Christmas programmes.
The jubilee concert programme offered true aesthetic delight to music lovers and admirers of both the choir and Quarto Quartet. The audience enjoyed works of Church Slavonic sacred music, as well as compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Louis Spohr, and others.
Special guests of the concert were violinist Ivan Vagalrov, singers Ralitsa Ralinova and Vladimir Gegov, flutist Hristo Pavlov, and organist Atanas Atanasov, Prof. PhD.
