On November 1, 2012, the “Crystal Lyre 2012” awards for musical and dance art were presented for the sixteenth consecutive year.
The Sofia Boys’ Choir, conducted by Associate Professor Adriana Blagoeva, was honored with the Crystal Lyre award — adding it to the ensemble’s Silver Lyre (1998) and Golden Lyre (2008). The accolade was bestowed in recognition of their performances during the Sofia Music Weeks festival and the release of their album Folklore Impressions, featuring 15 Bulgarian works inspired by folk traditions.
Earlier this year, the choir also took part in the 12th International Children’s and Youth Festival Sounds of Moscow, where they were awarded Second Prize, and went on to win First Prize in the accompanying competition for Church Slavonic music.
Another noteworthy milestone in 2012 was the 15th anniversary of the choir’s Youth Formation.
